Course Description

In this class we will explore Uniform Guidance for 2 CFR 200.331 Pass Through Requirements for federal grants. We’ll discuss proposed changes to Uniform Guidance and how they affect Pass Through requirements. We’ll explore frequently overlooked requirements, such as Pre-Award Risk Assessments, Suspended and Debarred and Special Conditions. We’ll review how to determine the difference between subrecipients and vendors, a still much misunderstood differentiation. We’ll subrecipient monitoring – how much is too much and what is my bare minimum?

Govt Hours: This class meets 2.0 hours of the 24-hour requirement for governmental CPE under Government Auditing Standards (yellow book), in most cases.
Technical Hours: This class meets 2.0 CPE credits of technical training in compliance with Texas Admin. Code Rule 523.102.

She is a federal compliance and grants expert, with in-depth experience building programs and processes that align agency objectives with regulatory requirements. She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), where she has held various leadership positions. She currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Internal Auditors Public Sector Audit Committee. Mara believes in success built on efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency. Her goal is to help organizations improve service delivery, ensure compliance, enhance transparency, and reduce costs.


Additional Information

TAC Rule 523.142(g) requires the CPE Sponsor to monitor individual attendance and assign the correct number of CPE credits. Participants will be asked to document their time of arrival and departure in compliance with this Rule. Additionally, attendance will be monitored throughout the day and CPE certificates will reflect actual attendance of each participant.
