Course Description

Many leaders are better at a certain skill within an industry than they are at directing other people and generating productivity.  If you’re better at accounting than managing others, this course will help you greatly.  You’ll learn three essential principles for effectively leading people, creating a team atmosphere, and fostering productivity.

Potential CPE Credits: 7.0

Instruction Type: Live
Experience Level: ALL
Category: Business Management and Organization

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Build a foundation of mutual trust within their team

This course covers three crucial ingredients for effectively leading and generating productivity.  First, we’ll look at Building Trust.  Though this is often talked about, it happens much less often.  We’ll explore the likely consequences of a lack of trust and what trust really looks like in the workplace.  You’ll learn the three “actions” that build or destroy trust, how you can work to earn it, and how to help your team members trust each other.

Next we’ll focus on how you can better engage your team members to give their best effort and produce better results by creating an “All In” mentality.  To do this, you’ll have to incorporate the three pronged approach, addressing peoples’ internal drivers…core values, motivators, and aspirations.  By understanding how to do this (which you’ll learn from this module), you will more quickly be able to maximize the contribution of each individual.

Finally, all of the trust and good intentions you can muster won’t prove to be enough if accountability is absent.  From what that means, to what it looks like, to how to create it, you’ll discover how you can create an atmosphere of accountability, and how to help your team members embrace it rather than be fearful of it.  As much as we’d like to think people will exercise self-initiative work hard without oversight, most people need something to answer for and someone to answer to in order to make consistent progress.  This section of the presentation will show you real-world ways to make accountability a reality on your team, without making you “the bad guy”.
